Historical description The Texas Medal of Honor Memorial stands within the Texas State Cemetery as a formal state tribute to native-born and adopted Texans who earned the nation’s highest military honor. Unveiled on May 31, 1999, the monument memorializes eighty-three men. The surrounding plots became a reserved Medal of Honor burial area after James Marion Logan received cemetery plots at the dedication.
