State military museum
The museum maintains a dedicated Medal of Honor digital series presenting the stories of Pennsylvania recipients. Those official profiles establish a clear museum-to-recipient interpretive relationship, but the Archive deliberately treats them as digital curatorial connections rather than evidence that the museum owns or displays each recipient’s Medal or personal artifacts.
Historical context
The Pennsylvania Military Museum in Boalsburg preserves and interprets the military service of Pennsylvania citizens across eras and branches. Its normal on-site mission combines indoor galleries, outdoor military objects, monuments, educational programs, and state military history. During the current capital project the main museum is closed, but the institution continues public programming and digital interpretation while renovation work proceeds.
The museum’s Medal of Honor series is valuable as a state-level interpretive index that can be cross-checked against the Archive’s citations and service records. It also demonstrates how a museum can sustain recipient interpretation digitally during a long physical renovation, while avoiding claims about objects that are not specifically documented in the series.
