Historical descriptionEstablished in the historic Washington Navy Yard, the National Museum of the United States Navy preserves material evidence of naval operations, shipboard experience, and the lives of American sailors. As the service plans a new national museum, the former public gallery operation has been reorganized as a Museum Support Center. Historical exhibits, educational programming, collections work, and private scheduled tours remain part of its mission.
