Visitor guidance The museum is in Pascagoula at the restored LaPointe-Krebs House. Hours and access can change because of events, preservation work, and Gulf Coast weather, so visitors should confirm current arrangements before traveling. Those seeking the Martin Freeman medal should contact the institution directly because the location record does not establish continuous public exhibition.
Historical description The LaPointe-Krebs House is one of the Gulf Coast’s oldest surviving structures, with a history extending to 1757. Long known locally as the Old Spanish Fort, the restored site and adjoining museum interpret French colonial construction, the families who occupied the property, regional archaeology, preservation work, and the layered history of Pascagoula. The institution’s official identity now preserves the LaPointe and Krebs family names while explicitly connecting the site to its former Old Spanish Fort museum name.
